PVR: Cyberabad, Inorbit Mall – Review in Detail

If you’ve got Deep Pockets, and don’t know how to spend them but you Love watching movies & eating theater food, Congratulations we’ve got the one for you – PVR Cinemas.

PVR Cinemas, one of the premium Multiplexes/Cinema Chains is home to more than 450 IMG_9344screens across India. Known for its Premium quality and service (And for being expensive), it never fails to let you down. PVR Cinema Theaters in Hyderabad, places itself at famous malls rather then being a stand alone Multiplex, making sure to gather a lot of crowd. From the First PVR in Hyderabad being placed inside Hyderabad Central to the one inside Forum Mall.

The Current Review is on PVR , Inorbit Mall at Madhapur.

What better mall to pick than the one placed between several I.T. Companies and it’s people residing by. Though the location seems to be a little far off for people not residing around Madhapur, it does not disappoint the ones who come to visit the mall. And for all the students and young professionals working all week, a weekend getaway to watch movies ends up being PVR Cinemas.

The review is divided into 5 Major aspects –The Theater, Cinema Hall, Sound & Display, Concession Stand(Food Court), and the Crowd.

The Theater:

Being part of a mall, gives a theater a lot of added advantages. Ticket Sales being one of the major ones. If the placement of movie in a theater is important so is the placement of the theater. Ambience of the Mall, provides as an extension for PVR.  You definitely get a premium feel once you’re in the proximity of PVR. From the entrance & the Box Office to the theater itself, is very well designed. Being part of one of the largest cinema chains mean following the same design pattern across all theaters. You would agree to this if you had been to other PVR’s as well.

Inside of the theater is not that huge. not a lot of place to walk around but has upto 5 screens. With the seats capacity in each being around 140-160. Along with the inclusion of Ticketless entry, it becomes quite easy.

The structure of the Theater is pretty simple, with easy follow routes while It welcomes you with the concession stands spread out all across one of the corners.

Cinema Hall:

The Cinema Halls of this PVR are quite small when compared to others. Though the theater has 140 screens, distance from the screen to the last row is quite less due to the seats being aligned in a very steep manner. This steep layout helps in not getting heads in front of you. The Silver screen itself is not of a very big size, with the inclusion of black masks(a stage) at the bottom. It is placed in a position that it is wonderful to watch it from the top rows, but as you go down, you might have to strain your neck to watch the screen. The Bottom most row – Don’t bother asking.

Inspite of this my love for seating does not go one bit down for one of the main reasons i like watching movies at PVR is cause of it’s Seats.  One of the best seats and cushioning . The distinct red coloured seats with the PVR branding on it, is a delight to sit on. This is only with the cushioning and the quality for reclining is a little difficult. You might have to anchor your legs to the ground if you want your seats to move behind, which tends to be a little difficult. With a very decent leg space, PVR seating is still one of the best.

One of the problems of having small distance from the Screen to the last seat means the projector functioning right behind you. During certain silent scenes of the movie where there are very minimal dialogues, the projector’s humming sound seemed to be a constant distraction from the screen wanting you to turn back and look at the projector.

Sound & Display:

PVR succeeds in these departments with absolute pristine sound and display quality. While watching action movies or action scenes, the surround sound plays a very important role in being able to differentiate sound coming in from different directions, and PVR is spot on with them. Being inside a small Cinema hall, the acoustics too are very good. With a very good display quality, PVR excels in this department.

Concession Stand:

No doubt that PVR focusses on quality, and it truly delivers it. with a very good spread of Concession stand food, it also come with addition of others stalls like Tibbs Frankie. And Oh god! the popcorn here at PVR was one of the best i had in a while. Before the last visit I didn’t know we could mix up different flavours into one(thanks to a friend). With everything good a price tag is attached along. Boy Oh Boy it is expensive, to give an approximate – the price of a regular(Small) popcorn being priced at Rs.220 tells the whole story. Along with Tibbs being priced higher than that of a normal Tibbs store. As much as fun it is to eat, it sure is expensive. So better have food outside the theater(Inorbit has a very good food court).

The Crowd:

The crowd at this PVR is quite less, one important factor being to the less seating capacities. At the same time getting seats is not a big issue. The Mall is surely crowded during the weekends and so is the theater. Weekday might be a good option to visit especially if you’re staying close by. With the maximum crowd being from around the neighbourhood, you would find a lot of young professionals coming in. Being part of a mall has its perks, especially the parking. Even when crowded, the mall provides ample parking for it’s visitors. So that should not be a worry at all.

“PVR at Inorbit Mall is the best option if you’re looking for a good evening to watch a movie, but make sure to have food at the Mall’s food Court, before entering. With very good Sound and Display quality, you’ll surely love the experience inspite of the Theater and the hall being of a small Size. And do avoid getting the bottom front seats of any screens at this PVR.”
